Fair time!

The fair was in town two weekends ago & going to it has always been a yearly tradition for my family, ever since I can remember. I’ve also been entering exhibits (photography & baked goods) in the fair since right after high school. Last year was my first year of actually winning some ribbons on a couple of photographs & my banana bread. I had no such luck this year, but it’s still fun to do and gets me free admission all week.

I headed up to the fair on Thursday night with two of my good friends to take in the country singer. We had a really fun “girls” night out.

Friday afternoon we headed up as a family with the boys. We saw the farm animals first. (Colton is just not a fan of the loud sheep & wanted out of that barn immediately after one bleated). We made our rounds & had to hit up the tractor/mower/ATV display – I think this might actually be the boys’ favorite part of the fair – sitting on all these different big boy “toys”! We also met up with a couple of friends & my sister and family. The boys were excited to go on rides & loved every one they tried out. They weren’t quite tall enough to go alone on most of them, so Cory joined them (& had to pay too, what??!!). We all went down the big slides on burlap sacks – race time: Cory & Wyatt against me & Colton…but Cory & Wyatt left the top early and beat us down to the bottom very easily. It was fun though. We rounded the night out with some fair food (including corn dogs) and headed home.

Saturday evening, Cory & I headed up to the fair by ourselves – date night! We met up with one of Cory’s good friends & his wife, who is the boys’ current daycare teacher. We had a fun night out while the boys spent a fun night at home with grandma.

We love continuing this yearly tradition with our family & it just wouldn’t be summer without it!
