A deer farm

We just got done enjoying another fun camping weekend. This time we went to Cory’s dad’s land that he bought last year. It currently only has a garage on it, which they built last year, but Cory, his dad & brother are going to start framing up a cabin starting sometime in September. It is also less than a mile away from a nice, little lake with a beach.

Friday morning, we headed into town and visited a local deer park. This was a cool place with all kinds of animals. Some animals (such as deer, sheep, goats, ducks and turkeys) are free roaming throughout the park and other animals (such as bear, wolves, coyotes, camels and badgers) are in cages.

The boys loved it & were much less timid with all the free-roaming animals than I thought they’d be. Our first stop was the fish pond, which we had to stop back at before we left the park that day. They liked the water & seeing the fish pop up to the surface when they would throw food in for them. Our next stop was the “’baby animals” area. This area had “littles” of all kinds of animals – sheep, goats, cats, fox, armadillo & more. There was also a big buck inside this area that the boys fed a few times. This was another area we returned back to before we left the park to enjoy a little bit more of & to get rid of the remainder of the corn we had bought to feed to the animals.

Through the rest of the par we saw a ton of animals, panned for gold, played on the playground, dug dirt & just had fun. The boys had a good time & it’s definitely a place I’d bring them back to again.

After the deer park, we headed back into town to a local pizza place & had a yummy pizza buffet for lunch – where kids 3 & under ate free (which was good because Colton ended up not eating much at all)!!
