Softball season begins!

Cory has played on a summer softball team as long as I’ve known him. There is just something about being out at the ball fields, cheering on my hubby on a warm, summer night that makes the summer complete.

The boys have been going to daddy’s games ever since before they were born. I made quite a few trips down to the ball fields in the 2 months before the boys arrived. The first summer after they were born was rough – trying to make it out of the house in those first few months with two infants was difficult, but we did make it out to one tournament to “watch” daddy (they both slept almost the entire time we were there). Last summer we made it out to a couple of daddy’s games (game start times range from 6-9 PM, so some of them are way past their bedtime!) but the boys were still not walking & hung out in the wagon or on the blanket.

This year is going to be different – I now have 2 running toddlers! The ball fields that Cory’s team plays on have a playground, so I’m sure we’ll be spending plenty of time over there. I’m sure the boys will also be interested in watching daddy play ball, but mommy will have to be on high-alert that they don’t run out onto the ball fields during a game. Otherwise, it’s the ideal place for two, active toddlers. Wide, open spaces…a play set…nothing they can wreck…perfect!

Cory’s team plays their first game tonight, so the boys & I were planning on going over to watch him but our plans may be spoiled by the threat of severe weather this afternoon & evening. We’re lucky enough that Cory has another early game next week – so if we’re forced to stay home tonight…there’s always next week!

I know Cory can’t wait to share his love of this sport with his two boys.
