We were unfortunate to have sprung a small leak in one of the pipes under the bathroom sink, but we are fortunate that it didn’t cause any damage. We did have to buy a new bathroom faucet though, which the boys were more than eager to help Cory put in.

Family Day!

The boys & I spent a fun-filled day with my immediate family, which is the first time in forever that we have gotten together for the day for something other than a holiday or birthday – long overdue!! The group was made up of my parents, both of my sisters and my two nephews – so really, we were just missing all the significant-others.

We hit up a super cool aquarium, ate lunch at The Rainforest Café and rode more rides at the indoor amusement park we visited last month. Everyone enjoyed the day so much and the boys had a blast seeing all the different sea animals & showing their cousins their favorite rides. Even Grandpa & Grandma joined in on a couple rides!

The boys did excellent – even with pushing through their normal nap time. They, of course, slept the entire ride home!!

New beds!

The boys have been sleeping on twin mattresses for about a year and a half now. We moved them from their cribs to low-end twin mattresses placed right on the floor in their bedroom. No rails or guards were needed since they didn’t have far to fall. At first, they rolled a lot & we’d find them all over their room in the middle of the night or in the morning but as time went on, that happened less & less.

We took the plunge and bought headboard/footboard sets for each boy and upgraded their mattresses to fit better in the new beds. (We are going to use the old mattresses up at Cory’s dad’s cabin.)

Cory spent the day, last Friday putting the frames, headboard and footboards together. I washed all their bedding & had the beds re-made by the time we picked up the boys at daycare. They were surprised & excited…although at bedtime Wyatt mentioned being a bit scared because he was up “so high” but it hasn’t turned out to be a big deal.

It has been 5 nights since they started sleeping in their new beds & we have not had one roll-out incident yet. We do have some fluffy blankets rolled up next to each bed, just in case, but it’s looking good so far.

Just one more step towards growing up…

B-Dubs!

We love Buffalo Wild Wings – delicious food, sports on TV, a loud atmosphere where the noisiness of two children does not stand out…what’s not to love??!!

We have been watching the Olympics off & on – we usually have it on the TV in the background as we start getting the boys ready for bed. They’ve been pretty interested in watching bits of it – especially the skiing & snowboarding.

They came home from daycare last week with gold medals of their own!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

We hope everyone is as lucky as us and gets to share & feel a little bit of love this Valentine’s Day. I’m a lucky gal & get to spend today with the three best Valentine’s a lady could hope for!!

I was again inspired by Pinterest for the boys’ Valentines to give to their daycare friends this year. (Valentines are one of the only things I’ve pinned & actually followed through with on Pinterest! I guess recipes are another.)

Colton’s were centered on squeeze applesauce and Wyatt’s were centered on heart-shaped marshmallows. I think they turned out super cute and are extra special to me because the boys actually helped assemble all of them this year! It was a great activity to do together and a great exercise for their counting & fine motor skills.

They were so excited to take them to daycare today…and get home this afternoon to eat the marshmallow left-overs!!

Can’t wait for our annual tradition of a heart-shaped pizza for dinner tonight!

A break from the cold…

…by heading indoors! We received some free amusement park passes from our good friends that expired at the end of February. With our weekends filling up fast, we planned to meet up with one of Cory’s cousins & his family at the park a couple Saturdays ago. His cousin has a little boy that is just a few weeks older than Wyatt & Colton, along with another little boy that’s just about 6 months old.

We met up after short naps in the car (I was worried these short naps were going to affect our evening, but they really didn’t!). This was our second time to this amusement park & the boys were excited. They had a blast & went on every ride they could! Adults ride for free with a kid and most of the rides had a 42” minimum to ride alone, which the boys are not yet, so it was really a fun family day.

The boys took rides on the carousel, race cars, semi-trucks, kiddie roller-coaster, train and more.

When I asked them both at the end of the day what their favorite ride was – Colton said it was the “ball game” and the train and Wyatt said it was the “fast cars” and the train.

It was a successful family day, taking a break from the extreme cold we’ve been stuck in all winter.
