21 Weeks

*How far along? 21 weeks 4 days
*How big is baby? My two little monkeys are as big as bananas this week.
*Genders? Two boys!
*Total weight gain? I am still up around 15 lbs from pre-pregnancy weight.
*Maternity Clothes? All maternity clothes now!
*Stretch marks? None yet – keeping my fingers crossed!
*Sleep? Up for a couple bathroom trips in the middle of the night, otherwise fairly good. I was on the lookout for a body pillow this weekend but no luck at Target or Wal-Mart.
*Movement? More & more movement each day. Cory can feel quite a bit of movement from the outside as well, which has been pretty cool to share with him.
*Food cravings? Still no strong ”pregnancy” cravings – ice cream has been tasting pretty good lately.
*Labor signs? None.
*Belly button in or out? Still mostly in – I thought it’d stay this way for awhile, but it’s starting to “pop” a little even though I still have somewhat of an “innie” left.
*What I miss? Tying my shoes without it being such a hassle – it’s a bit more complicated these days & I can’t wait for the weather to be warm enough for flip flops, which sounds like it might be this week.
*What I am looking forward to? Getting our extra bedrooms painted – hopefully in the next couple of weeks.
*Best moment this week? Registering at Target on Saturday. It was a bit crowded and they didn’t have the selection like Babies ‘R Us did – but anything to do with looking at & picking out cute stuff for the babies is fun in my book!

20 Week ultrasound pictures

Here are some update profile pictures of the babies from our 20 week ultrasound. As you can see Baby B was much more cooperative and still during the ultrasound, so we got a better profile picture of him. Baby A has his head tucked down close to his chest - that is why he is a little harder to pick out clearly. Enjoy!!

18 Week belly shot - long overdue!!

I am behind on posting my bi-weekly belly shots - I know, I know. I was really sick this weekend and we have not even taken my 20 week belly shots yet, so here is an update from 2 weeks ago...

I'm going to be brave enough to start to include one shot with my bare belly - that is, until stretch marks start to appear. :)

20 Weeks

*How far along? 20 weeks 4 days
*How big is baby? We’re growing – can you believe they are the size of cantaloupes this week??!!
*Genders? Two boys!
*Total weight gain? I am up around 15 lbs from pre-pregnancy weight. The doctor said that was fine & on-track last week but I’m not as confident & feel a little behind. It also didn’t help that I was sick this weekend and probably lost a little bit of this.
*Maternity Clothes? All maternity clothes now!
*Stretch marks? None yet – keeping my fingers crossed!
*Sleep? Still the same – up for a couple bathroom trips in the middle of the night, otherwise good. I might have to invest in a body pillow though because my growing belly is getting a little heavier lately.
*Movement? I’ve been feeling pretty regular kicks & punches within the last week – sometimes both babies are moving at the same time & sometimes their each on their own schedule.
*Food cravings? Still no strong ”pregnancy” cravings – potatoes always sound good (mashed & French fries especially).
*Labor signs? None.
*Belly button in or out? Still in – I thought it’d stay this way for awhile, but it’s starting to “pop” a little even though I still have somewhat of an “innie” left.
*What I miss? Tying my shoes without it being such a hassle – it’s a bit more complicated these days & I can’t wait for the weather to be warm enough for flip flops.
*What I am looking forward to? More movement from the babies – I’m addicted. It’s so exciting, especially now that Cory can feel them from time-to-time from the outside too.
*Best moment this week? Spending the day with my husband, starting our registry at Babies ‘R Us and picking out/ordering the cribs!! (Even though my weekend as a whole sucked – I was really sick all weekend and Cory was so great and patient with me, also picking up all my slack on housework, laundry & meals – I couldn’t do it without him!!)

19 Week Update

We had our 20 week ultrasound yesterday. I was so excited to see the babies again and hear their heartbeats. I heard their heartbeats at my last appointment about 4 weeks ago but have not seen them on an ultrasound since January – I couldn’t wait to see how much they had grown!
Everything checked out perfect. All organs & limbs looked good & healthy. The babies are now lying transverse in my belly – which means they are laying side-to-side, with their heads on opposite ends. The one closes to the bottom is referred to as Baby A. As of yesterday’s ultrasound – Baby A weighs 10 oz. and has a heart rate of 144, Baby B weighs 11 oz. and has a heart rate of 147.

Healthy babies were our #1 priority.

We had also decided to find out the genders of the babies, if the ultrasound tech was able to tell. They were some-what cooperative in that department. The ultrasound tech’s verdict..
TWO BOYS!!

Both Cory & I were totally surprised! (It appears also according to our blog's poll, this will be a surprise to others to, as there were only 2 votes for boy/boy!) I think because of the old wives tales about heart rate ranges and because their heart rates were both higher but both different at my last doctor’s appointment we had both been thinking two girls or a boy & a girl. I guess we were both wrong – so much for parental intuition. Baby A gave the ultrasound tech a little bit of a hard time deciding if that was boy parts or the umbilical cord, because of the position he was laying in, but I think she was pretty convinced by the end of the gender check that it was a boy. We will have plenty of ultrasounds throughout the rest of the pregnancy, so I guess if she was wrong on something we should eventually find out.

So now I am looking forward to Friday – I took the day off of work and Cory & I are going to start some registering and just spend the day together (which I am really excited to do) – I guess I’ll be looking in the “blue” section while registering now!

19 Weeks

*How far along? 19 weeks 4 days
*How big is baby? I have two little mangos this week!!
*Genders? Unknown…until tomorrow, hopefully!!
*Total weight gain? I am up around 13 lbs from pre-pregnancy weight. We will see what the doctor says about that at my appointment tomorrow – kind of feel like it should be a little more.
*Maternity Clothes? All maternity clothes now, with the exception of some pre-pregnancy tops I’m still wearing.
*Stretch marks? None yet – keeping my fingers crossed!
*Sleep? Still the same – up for a couple bathroom trips in the middle of the night, otherwise good.
*Movement? I can’t quite tell what is movement & what is my body but I seem to have a few periods of feeling them “rolling” or slight kicking – mostly later at night but sometimes mid-morning.
*Food cravings? Still no strong ”pregnancy” cravings.
*Labor signs? None.
*Belly button in or out? Still in – it should stay this way for awhile.
*What I miss? I missed going to Cory’s uncle’s fish fry this Saturday night – we’ve gone to it the last few years but the bar that it is held at is just too smoky, so I decided it was better for me to just stay home this year.
*What I am looking forward to? Our ultrasound & doctor’s appointment tomorrow – just hoping for two healthy babies!
*Best moment this week? Again, spending the afternoon on Sunday with my mom & sisters – scrapbooking. I got a little farther on my wedding album this week. Cory & I were also able to get out on a couple of good walks this weekend – loving the nice, spring weather we’re getting lately!

18 Week Update

Wow – I can’t believe how fast the time is just flying by. It seems like just yesterday we found out we were expecting & then received the extra blessing that we were having twins! With 38 weeks being the full-term time period for twins I am quickly approaching the half-way mark of 19 weeks later this week!

We are quickly digging into & prioritizing our home improvement projects that we plan to tackle in the next two months:
- We have carpet for one of the rooms but still need to find some for the other room.
- I have to pick out the paint colors for both rooms.
- Cory has started working on & is pretty far along with removing the wallpaper that was in one of the rooms so it’ll be ready to paint when the time comes.
- Packing up & moving out everything from the two extra rooms.
- Deciding what other “big” project we’re going to tackle this spring – re-shingling the roof, new windows or new siding.
I’m also counting down the days until our ultrasound next week – only 6 days left until we get to see our little ones again!!

18 Weeks

*How far along? 18 weeks 4 days
*How big is baby? I have two little sweet potatoes this week!!
*Genders? Unknown. I did, however have my first dream about the babies this weekend and in that dream they were both boys – weird because I’ve been thinking they are either two girls or a boy & a girl…..one week from tomorrow until we find out!
*Total weight gain? My appetite seems to be some-what back to normal – I am up around 8-10 lbs from pre-pregnancy weight.
*Maternity Clothes? All maternity clothes now, with the exception of some pre-pregnancy tops I’m still wearing – so, so comfortable.
*Stretch marks? None yet – keeping my fingers crossed!
*Sleep? Still the same – up for a couple bathroom trips in the middle of the night, otherwise good.
*Movement? I’m not 100% sure, but I think I might have felt one of the babies moving two different mornings last week. It was a slight buzzing/bubbles feeling on my lower left side – hopefully more starting soon!
*Food cravings? Still no strong ”pregnancy” cravings.
*Labor signs? None.
*Belly button in or out? Still in – it should stay this way for awhile.
*What I miss? Running & my normal exercise routine. With the weather getting nicer out in the last week or so it’s that time of year again. We have been getting out for a walk here & there, otherwise my new-shortened workout routine is usually indoors since I tire easily & get out of breath too quickly.
*What I am looking forward to? Picking out the carpet & paint for the two bedrooms – I can’t wait to get those rooms looking brand new!
*Best moment this week? Spending the afternoon on Sunday with my mom & sisters – scrapbooking and organizing my scrapbooking stuff. My goal is to have my wedding album done by the end of March; I don’t need that project still outstanding when the babies come.

17 Week Update

Week 17 has been the turning point for me from wearing my regular, pre-pregnancy clothes to wearing maternity clothes. It’s kind of hard to let my old clothes go but these maternity clothes are so much more comfortable!!

Otherwise week 17 has been fun & not overly busy. Cory & I hit the local home & garden show on Saturday, hoping to find some home improvement ideas & deals (didn’t get too much of that) and also started looking at carpet for our two “extra” bedrooms that we will be re-painting & re-carpeting within the next month or so. One will be the twins’ nursery and the other one will either be a playroom or my office. We found a good deal on some carpet remnants at a local carpet store but only found one roll that matched our tastes and that was big enough to fit either one of the rooms. We’ll have to continue our search for carpet for the other room. On Sunday, we stopped by Cory’s mom’s house to visit her on her birthday; we are taking her out to eat to celebrate tonight.

17 Weeks

*How far along? 17 weeks 4 days
*How big is baby? The babies are as big as onions this week – this will be fun comparison to share with Cory, as he can’t stand onions (I think he’ll make an exception for our two little onions this week.)!!
*Genders? Unknown – I haven’t really had any feelings one way or another yet. Counting down the weeks until our ultrasound though!
*Total weight gain? My appetite seems to be some-what back to normal – I am up around 8-10 lbs from pre-pregnancy weight.
*Maternity Clothes? I finally made the big switch to maternity pants last week – long overdue, boy – are they awesome!! So much more comfy then my pre-pregnancy jeans unbuttoned. Thanks again to Jamie & Tracy for lending me a great selection to get started with.
*Stretch marks? None yet – keeping my fingers crossed!
*Sleep? Still the same – up for a couple bathroom trips in the middle of the night, otherwise good.
*Movement? None yet, but hopefully starting soon!
*Food cravings? Still no strong ”pregnancy” cravings.
*Labor signs? None.
*Belly button in or out? Still in – it should stay this way for awhile.
*What I miss? Laying on my back & stomach – I usually sleep on my side anyway, but not having those other options available just limits your sleeping positions.
*What I am looking forward to? Picking out the carpet & paint for the two bedrooms – I can’t wait to get those rooms looking brand new!
*Best moment this week? Spending the weekend with my husband – Friday night walking through Target’s baby section (compared to Babies ‘R Us – kind of disappointing) and getting him familiar with all the different baby items; Saturday going to the local home & garden show and then looking at carpet; and Sunday just doing some small errands and relaxing.
