Getting ready for Easter activity – dying Easter eggs!

The Saturday before Easter, we spent the morning at a local sheep farm (post & pictures to come!) but had nothing planned for the rest of the day. Dying Easter eggs sounded like the perfect after-nap activity – especially since it was cold & rainy out that day. Last year, I striped the boys down to their diapers, as to try to minimize the mess – but this year we tacked it fully-clothed!

Both boys were excited to get started & helped me pick the color tablets to drop in the vinegar. They both did really well but, I’ll admit, I was hovering around them with paper towels as to clean up messes as soon as they happened.

They took turns dropping the eggs in the dye cups & showed some patience in waiting for them to soak up the color – but after the first round of eggs, Wyatt lost interest & went back to playing with his chain saw (he had been “fixing” or “cleaning” something under the kitchen table before we had started our egg dying adventure and obviously that was more exciting!). Colton happily helped finish up the last couple batches.

Daddy has been busy eating up the hard-boiled eggs ever since that day. Last night, at dinner, both boys asked for their own egg to eat, so Daddy broke off some of his egg for them to try first. Neither was too impressed!
