It has been years since our church has done something like this for the younger kids of the congregation. Our Sunday school & young children’s program is growing in numbers so this is great to see an event like being put to encourage families to come together and keep the kids involved in the church.
My mom, sister & nephews also joined us for this fun event. The age group of 3 & under got a 1 minute head start for the egg hunt that included searching both indoors & out! It was a beautiful day outside too. The boys caught on quickly and ended up with quite a few each – 21 for Wyatt & 11 for Colton.
They were both bummed they didn’t win the “big” prize for collecting the most eggs, which was a huge chocolate bunny, but they were excited to open up each of their individual eggs to find a piece of candy inside. That was plenty of sweets for us! Bonus: there were plain, chocolate Hersey’s mini-eggs inside some of the eggs, which were safe for Colton to eat (these types of events are kind of tricky for us with his peanut allergy), so they both got to pick one of those to eat as a special reward for their hard work.
