A not-so-rainy 5K

The weekend before Easter, Cory & I had another run event planned – he was going to run his first 10K & I was going to run the 5K. Unfortunately, Cory’s back was giving him too much trouble for him to do the 10K.

My parents had taken the boys for an overnight visit the night before the race, so Cory & I had a fun “date night” getting two new ceiling fans installed and making a visit to the home improvement store, picking out house goodies, including a new shower head and exterior doors. This also meant, I got a good night’s sleep and got to sleep in the morning of my race!

The morning of the race was rainy; it even down poured my entire drive to the event. I was committed though – I was going to run it, rain or shine (even though the cold temps in the 40s made it feel even colder in combination with the rain).

By the time the 5K race was ready to start – we were blessed with clearing skies. It was still mostly cloudy but with no rain & just a few peeks of the sun it made for perfect running weather! I also PR’d, so that made my day even better!

A post-race pic!
We did continue our “date night” properly after I got home from the race (& doing a quick clean of the house) by having lunch at a local Thai place that I’ve been dying to take Cory to, before we went to pick up the boys. We missed them like crazy but they love having overnights with Grandpa & Grandma.

Isn’t it crazy how productive you can be without having to work around/against two little 3 year olds??!!
