I’ve been MIA. I know. It seems like we’ve just had a crazy couple of weeks – mostly because Cory’s back decided to give out on him early last week, which left him not walking or standing upright without the use of some sort of support, since last Thursday. It’s been a busy week+, with no down time, and me acting as a “single parent” for the majority of it. It really makes me appreciate him & all the help he gives me that much more. Mostly, I just want him to get to feeling better & walking. (but, yes…I could really use a break too!) Unfortunately that also means he will not be running his 10K race he was training for this coming Saturday – he’s bummed & I’m bummed for him. I will still be running my 5K, even if the weather forecast is looking rainy at this time.
We made our annual trip to a local lamb farm two weekends ago. We met up with my parents, sister & nephews for some farm fun. We hit the farm on one of the few, beautiful days with temps rising into the 40s/50s – this meant melting snow, muddy puddles & rain boots!
The boys enjoyed themselves again this year and showed interest in all of the animals. The baby pigs were the only thing that they weren’t too fond of – they would squeal so loud when one of the farm hands would hold them for kids to pet. I just explained to the boys that the little piglets just wanted their mommy & that’s why they were crying sooooo loud! It took a bit for Colton to warm up to the idea, but both boys ended up enjoying feeding the sheep from their hands. They both also got a chance to hold a baby goat (which, they love to tell people, are called “kids”) and sat very nicely while doing so.
The barn was busy – we’ve had such a cold winter and spring that the nice weather brought everyone out. We were even lucky enough to run into my aunt, uncle, cousin & his little girl, whom we don’t see very often.
After meeting all the animals, we enjoyed a lunch out together…well, as much as you can enjoy a lunch out with 4 little boys age 5 and under!
It was a good time and a great experience that I love to share with my boys each spring.
