52 Weeks Old

It’s official – we have two 1-year olds in the house now!

This will be my last “official” bi-weekly “# Weeks Old” posting. I’ve been doing it since they were 6 weeks old! I was trying to get myself into the routine of posting timely updates during the boys’ first year. I will continue to post updates on the boys’ progress, development & our fun family adventures every week or so.

We had a wonderful 4-day weekend for the 4th of July holiday. The weather was beautiful as well – which made it even more enjoyable! We stuck around the house on Saturday and get some cleaning & organizing done. On Sunday we visited my parents, who were camping, and had a fun time visiting with some extended family. Monday we were invited to a grill out/swimming party at our friends’ house (more details on that to come in a separate post). Cory had to go back to work on Tuesday but I was lucky enough to have the extra day off for the holiday weekend. My sister came over to watch the boys and I did our weekly grocery shopping (LOVE grocery shopping in the middle of the day in the middle of the week – no lines!!) and I was also able to do a little bit of “mommy wardrobe re-vamp” shopping as well. I wasn’t as successfully as I had hoped but I got a few new shirts & one pair of capris.

We had a HUGE change in our household over the holiday weekend – NO MORE BOTTLES! Cory & I decided that we’d take advantage of the long holiday weekend and make the transition from bottles & formula to sippy cups & milk – cold turkey (from recommendations of two good friends). I have to say, the boys have done very well with the change. They were starting to drink less & less of their bottles, so maybe they were “telling” us that they were ready for the switch. We offer them a sippy cup with milk right away in the morning and at each meal, and then a sippy cup with water at any time inbetween (including snack & bedtime). I can’t say I’m going to miss washing bottles every night or the monthly bill formula added; but I will miss that “cuddle” time we had with our babies. We “snuggle” and read books before bed for our “together” time now.

The boys have still been sleeping awesome (knock on wood!) since this past weekend. The boys are sleeping around 11 hours each night. They fall asleep somewhere between 6:45-7:15 PM. (We are starting to settle them down for bed with a sippy of water, blanket & a book (and then a nuk if they don’t want their sippy) and then putting them to bed semi-awake. Wyatt has done great with this from the start and puts himself to sleep very well. Colton was fussing a bit before falling asleep, but that seems to be getting better each day as he didn’t fuss at all today. We dropped the 9 PM bottle as of Saturday night – and they haven’t seemed to miss it a bit!) They both have been sleeping until around 6-6:45 AM. Last night they both slept awesome all night long, without needing nuks until after 5:30 AM – awesome job boys!

Wyatt
Toothless – yes, Wyatt is 1 year old today and still toothless. He doesn’t let that slow him down at all eating-wise. He has been showing signs of teething, so I’m sure we’re getting closer.

Colton
Colton’s top two center teeth came in last week. The left one popped through on Tuesday and it felt like the right one had as well but then went back up for a couple days. Friday, the right one popped back through so he officially has 4 teeth as of his 1st birthday.
