1st Birthday Re-cap

The boys had a wonderful 1st birthday. It’s so great to see how loved they are by all our family & friends. We will celebrate the boys’ birthday with a party at our house this weekend.

Today’s birthday wishes: My sister & littlest nephew spent the whole day with the boys playing & having fun (while daddy & mommy had to work). Grandpa (my dad) came over on his lunch hour to visit and even shared some of his frosty from Wendy’s with the boys as a birthday treat (actually, it sounds more like he gave them each a taste and they loved it so much that they followed him around, like little puppies, until all the ice cream was gone). Grandma (Cory’s mom) and one of Cory’s aunts came over to visit and bring a few presents for the boys (Cory’s aunt, who has helped babysit the boys a ton, isn’t able to make the party on Saturday because of work). Both Grandma (my mom) & my youngest sister called to sing “Happy Birthday!” to the boys. Cory’s brother, his girlfriend and our niece also stopped by during supper to bring a present and visit for a while. Our last visitors for the night were a good couple friend of ours – they stopped by to visit and drop off the boys’ smash cakes (they are also unable to make the party because my friends’ sister is getting married the same day!). The cakes turned out amazing (I’m in LOVE with them!) – my friend is so talented and so generous for taking time out of her super busy schedule to make them for us. I will be sure to take lots of pictures of them. The boys even got some really cute home-made hand print cards from their two cousins (my sister’s two little boys). They also received numerous birthday wishes through cards, emails and Facebook – thank you to everyone for all the love.

We had home-made “bubble” pizza and carrots for dinner together. The boys really seemed to like it. They split a little carrot cake cupcake for a special dessert, and gobbled that right down too. We put them in their jammies, read books and put them down to sleep for the night. As much as I miss quiet time, I love these moments with our boys so much more.

We have had such a wonderful year. We’ve learned so much, laughed so much and watched the boys grow. We are truly lucky to have two healthy little boys that bring such joy into our lives. We’re having so much fun with them and look forward to much more of that to come!
