The boys were 6 weeks old yesterday. We are continuing to learn new things each day.
The boys are having more “awake” time every week. We use this time for cuddling, swings, bouncers, baths or “tummy time”. They are also getting a little bit more on a feeding/sleeping schedule – every 3 hours during the day and around 3-4 hours at night. At their 1 month check up, the pediatrician told us that we no longer had to wake them up during the night for feedings and we could allow them to go as long as they would sleep. We had previously been waking them up every 3 hours, even at night, since they were born in order to help them gain weight faster. We are also getting out of the house more & more during the day. The boys and I have made trips to the doctor, chiropractor, ball games and Target. They are a handful to get ready & out the door but with some planning each trip is getting a little bit easier.
Tuesday night the boys had another milestone – it was the first time they went for 5 hours between nightly feedings!! How awesome is that??!! That also meant a good 3 hours of continuous sleep for their mom, which was much appreciated. That was the longest span of sleep I have had since before they were born. Then again last night they had another 5 ½ hour span. I’m not counting on this continuing yet but it has been nice to get a little more sleep at night.
We had the boys’ pictures professional taken when they were three weeks old. The photographer sent me a preview of a couple of the shots but I am still waiting on the rest of the proofs. My goal is to get the boys’ birth announcements out before they are 2 months old (which is only 2 weeks away) but at this point I am waiting on the photographer.
