Stranger & Separation Anxiety…

…has definitely made an appearance in our household.

Wyatt started his separation anxiety, a little over a week ago (about the beginning of February) by really noticing when you leave the room (by “you” I mean whoever is spending time with him). Unless he’s totally into something that he’s playing with at the moment, he immediately notices when you’re headed out. He gets really upset and lets you know he’s not happy about you going anywhere. As soon as you return to the room, all is well in the world with him again. I really try to keep talking to him when I do leave the room so he knows that I’m still around but that has not seemed to help yet. Colton did the same thing (got upset when I left the room) for the first time last night. We’ll have to wait and see if it’s something he’ll continue to do or if it was a one-time occurrence.

Both boys have a bit of stranger anxiety but Colton seems to be a bit more sensitive to new people than Wyatt. Both boys are pretty good with new people if they are given time to warm up to them. They seem to get upset when someone new makes a quick appearance, picks them up without warning or talks in a really excited/loud voice right after meeting them.

I know both of these things are a normal phase most babies go through and will work their way out.

On a side note – I am really excited for a little night away tomorrow night. It’s girls’ night out with food & drinks at Olive Garden. I can’t wait! Cory is having a guys’ day on Saturday at a local ice fishing contest – grilling out and spending the day with some of his good friends. The boys and I get to hang out all day together – we might just hang out at home or we might do a little shopping or visiting with friends – I’m not sure yet.
