Snow day

Do you remember the excitement a snow day brought as a child? I got to relive that excitement today, although mine was a little bit more like a late-start (still very much worth the celebration in my eyes).

Heavy snow fell all day yesterday. Cory realized how much snow we were getting when he made a quick run to the store and to pick up lunch at noon yesterday. He said the roads were slick and people were not driving for the bad road conditions. The forecast was for 8-12” through the day Sunday and overnight into this morning.

My parents called this morning (my mom is currently watching the boys while my sister is on maternity leave and my dad has the day off of work for President’s Day) to let me know that they would not be able to make it to my house right away this morning because of all the snow we received, along with all the drifting that the area they live in is good for, until the snow plows came through by their house. I called into work to let them know that I would either be arriving late or would be out for the day (depending if/when my parents were plowed out). The boys and I had a fun morning hanging out – drinking bottles, napping & playing. My parents were able to make it over to my house before lunchtime and I headed into work (although the roads are still in pretty rough shape).

The local weather reported that all areas did receive the 8-12” that was forecasted and will continue to receive an additional 1-3” during the day today. I love snow but now that we’re nearing the end of February, I’m really getting spring fever and would love it if we continued to have the warm temps we experienced last week which would melt all of this snow.

For a few short hours this morning, I was able to relive the excitement of my childhood snow days…and I enjoyed it!
