Moving on up!

The boys moved into a new classroom at daycare this week & I’m so excited about it. We are very excited about their new “friends” & their new teachers – Miss “S” & Miss “S”.

We are coming up on our 1 year anniversary of first starting daycare – they started in their first room with Miss “B” the first week in November last year. Wow – time flies!

The first class they started in had kids from about 15 months until 2 years. The boys were in that class until this past June. It was sad when they moved out of that class, because Miss “B” was their “first” teacher & we loved her so much!

They moved up into the next class, which typically has kids from 2- 2 ½ years old, part-way through June. After being in that room part of June, all of July & all of August – many of their “friends” moved up to the next classroom, their teacher Miss “K” was moved into a different classroom & their teacher Miss “S” went on maternity leave – LOTS of changes, to say the least! Their new teacher Miss “S” was wonderful & so sweet and the boys did great with her despite all the changes that had happened. That now made the boys the oldest ones in their class.

The boys began “visiting” the next classroom up (which usually has kids from 2 ½ - 3 or so) from time to time in September (when attendance numbers are low, these two classrooms combine & that was happening quite frequently). The daycare director brought it to my attention that the teachers in the next classroom up thought that the boys were ready to move into their classroom – they were being challenged more & the boys loved the new teachers! After a few meetings with the director & the new teachers (being the move was being made a few months ahead of time), Cory & I agreed that the boys did seem to be ready to move up & begin a new adventure.

So far, everything has been going great, but they were “visiting” that room so much in the past few weeks that I don’t think this change is really phasing the boys too much. They will be in this classroom until late-next summer.

With a few months of bumpy changes, I think giving them that stability back will be a very good thing for them.
