28 Week Update

I’m a little late on this week’s update but I’ve had a busy week both at work & home. Since I’m technically 29 weeks today, I can’t believe that I’m only a week away from the 30 week mark of the twins’ pregnancy - the time is flying by too fast. So far, so good (with no complications) and we pray that the same will continue!

Last Friday I had the day off of work and spent it thrift-saleing and shopping with my Mom. We had a fun day together and I had some success finding a few things that I needed. Friday night I had a dinner out/baby shower with the “softball girls” – all of our husbands play softball together and we’ve all become pretty close friends. Dinner out was awesome – good food and it was great catching up with everyone. The girls were so generous and gave us a Radio Flyer wagon, our 2nd high chair and a bunch of feeding accessories – thanks again girls!! Saturday and Sunday we did some cleaning in the house, as well as some baby gear organizing and I got a good start on writing out “Thank You’s” for my last shower.

I had failed my 1-hour glucose blood test at my doctor’s appointment last week so I had to go in this week for the longer 3-hour glucose blood test. I went in Tuesday, after fasting all night, and spent my morning in the lab. It was all worth it in the end though because all of my number came back in the normal range meaning that I PASSED!! Gestational diabetes is common in pregnancy, and women who have a ‘multiples’ pregnancy have an increased risk, so finding out that it is not a complication I have to deal with at this point was very relieving.

We have a busy weekend ahead filled with parties – baby showers and birthday celebrations. I am looking forward to having my last baby shower this weekend on Sunday, which is for my mom’s side of the family. I am very excited to see & visit with everyone – most I haven’t seen since just after Christmas when we first announced that I was pregnant.
