The day was cooler so we had the boys bundled up in layers – including their winter jacket, hats, mittens & blankets. (Daddy even brought along some of his hand warmers, he usually uses while hunting, for extra warmth.) Cory pushed the boys in the stroller & I ran on my own. He runs at a faster pace, yes…even when pushing the stroller, so they were ahead of me for almost the entire race. We really didn’t do much training for this race so I’m glad it went as well as it did for both of us.
We only got rained on a little bit during the 2nd & 3rd miles but then it really didn’t let up after we finished the race. We grabbed some post-race snacks & camped out near the finish line to cheer in my good friend who was running in the ½ marathon. It was a cold wait with the rain but it was so worth it to clap & cheer for her with the boys at the finish line (& it meant a lot to her too!).
Cory’s hooked now. We’ve got 2 more runs planned this fall…another one already this weekend!
