Carnival.

The boys’ daycare center was celebrating their anniversary – and they did so this year, in a big way a couple weekends ago, with a carnival.

Our family
The boys received backpacks, with some goodies inside, right away when we arrived. The first thing we hit up was the games – bean bag toss, pick-a-ducky and other typical carnival games. They won a small “prize” every time.

Knock over the trolls time.

Colton trying his hand at it too!

The next thing that caught Colton’s eye was the big air-filled bouncy-slide. So he & I headed over there, but with an abundance of “bigger” kids, he was a little intimidated and decided against trying it out. Wyatt & daddy came over shortly after & Wyatt had the same feelings – it looked exciting but wasn’t quite brave enough to do it himself. Luckily, there was a smaller version of an air-filled bounce house/slide just their size & with only one other little girl in it – they took that on, no.problem!!

Colton, taking on the slide.

Jumping fun.

Wyatt sliding down!
We then headed over where they had a station for families to paint their own cement paver to put in their garden. I started out by writing our names on it while the boys colored – but soon my names were being painted over by two little boys!! Wyatt tried different colors, but Colton was stuck on one of his favorites – orange. (…and he was putting it on pretty thick – pretty thick as, this thing wasn’t going to dry for more than a week thick!) We wrapped up the boys painting & while Cory was helping them get their hands washed up (they had provided old t-shirts to wear over their clothes) I finished up with adding in our names (and thinning out Colton’s orange globs a bit).

Our family stone
(the orange really covers the blues & yellows that
originally existed!)

The next thing Wyatt wanted to do was get his face painted. He chose a football! Colton was so, not interested in doing the face-painting thing, so we didn’t push it. Wyatt loved it!

Sitting so still.
Unfortunately, I had a memorial service to attend for my grandma that day, so my carnival time was shortened. I helped get Cory & the boys into the big tent to start lunch and then I headed out.

Cory & the boys stayed until nap time – doing some more of the same things we had done that morning. They also stood in line for the clown-balloon-shape-maker to get two swords – the boys’ favorite thing they brought home from the carnival. (When Colton’s started to shrink the next day, he was determined that we had to go back & get him a new one…so that took a little explaining.)

It was a really fun day and we are very grateful for their daycare for hosting such a fun, family event!
