We had a wonderful weekend (a picture posting to come soon!) and then have had a really rough start to our week. Monday morning my mom (my current childcare provider) called and said that she was sick and unable to make it to watch the boys. I took the day off and got to spend it with my boys (Cory & I will usually split a day off in this type of situation but since Cory just got back from a week+ of work vacation, I took the entire day). We were going to make a visit to our local children’s museum, but of course the only day of the week they are closed is Mondays! L We made a fun trip to Target instead.
Colton started to run a low-grade fever that day but I attributed it to him teething (especially since he had another “bigger” bottom tooth break through sometime in the past two weeks, which went totally unnoticed by me – mommy fail!). That evening he started to sound very congested and was raspy while breathing. Overnight his fever spiked up to 103.5 so he slept in bed with us for a little while that night so I could monitor him a little better. He was miserable yesterday morning, so I took him in to get checked out by a pediatrician (the fever was under control & not worrisome but his breathing sounded horrible; poor little guy also completely lost his voice). After a lot of listening to his lungs and a saline-filled nebulizer, the pediatrician determined that it was just congestion & nothing more serious. I hate to see my little babies in pain and not be able to take it away. So we’ve been just keeping him on some ibuprofen to help with the fever & aches/pains. He actually showed improvement overnight with his fever gradually dropping and his mood so smiley & happy before I left for work this morning.
(Now I’m crossing my fingers that Wyatt stays well and doesn’t get the same thing!)
Get better soon Colton!
