We had such a fun family weekend; I really didn’t want it to end. The weather was warm but bearable for the most part.
Pool
Friday afternoon the weather was picture perfect and I was able to sneak out of work a couple hours early and take the boys to our local pool following their afternoon nap. We went with my mom, sister & nephews but also met up with a couple of friends while there. This was the boys’ first experience swimming in a “big” pool (OK, well really swimming in anything other than a kiddie pool). This pool has a very large shallow area where the boys could walk around (with our help) and even sit down in. They both had such a blast and really enjoyed the water. Wyatt was my little fish that day – he kept sticking his head in the fountain or just in the water itself…coming up sputtering but loving it! We definitely will need to make another visit yet this summer, and hopefully bring Cory along.
Zoo
Saturday brought a trip to the zoo with some friends of ours (they have a 2 year old & an 11 month old). The zoo is a little over an hour away so we were able to plan travel time during the boys’ morning & afternoon naps – which worked out perfect! The boys seemed to really enjoy & be intrigued by all the different animals. We were able to get a little break from the heat when we grabbed lunch, which felt nice. We wrapped up our visit seeing the rest of the animals after lunch and headed back home again when the heat of the day was getting to its worst. We had such a good time; we will definitely have to make it an annual trip!
Family Reunion
From the zoo, we drove straight to my cousin’s house. My dad’s side of the family was having a family reunion at the “home farm”. The boys woke up just as we were getting there and we were all ready to get out & stretch our legs after the long car ride.
Ball Tournament
There is a ball park with 8+ ball fields “in our back-yard” (within 1 ½ miles of our house). Cory played ball (little league) there as a kid and has such fond memories of it – he is already looking forward to when the boys will be old enough to play there as well. Every year they have an “end-of-the-year” tournament weekend – which was being held this past weekend.
Sunday, the temperature and humidity started to climb early. We loaded up the boys in the stroller after lunch and took a walk over to the park to watch some ball games. We packed plenty of water for everyone, and it was MUCH needed! The boys did take some interest in watching all the kid’s ball games. We made it back home in time for their afternoon nap (although I was kind of surprised they didn’t fall asleep in the stroller on the way home).
Pictures to follow!
